Welcome

The International Civil Society Consortium for Public Deliberation is an international, nonprofit network of civic organizations from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, the Americas, and Africa whose main aim is to enhance cooperation in promoting responsible democratic institutions and public deliberation around the world. It is the belief that such deliberation provides the space for diverse views and a laboratory for innovations in addressing the stubborn problems that local communities face. This the consortium believes reinforces democratic progress.

Members of ICSC have been gathering since 1991 under the auspices of the Kettering Foundation. Since then, the network has grown to include civil society activists, researchers, and other academics representing nongovernmental organizations, university departments, foundations, and journals. The current network includes organizations from the following countries: Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Bahrain, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Guatemala, Kosovo/FRY, Germany, Ghana, Hungary, Ireland, Jamaica, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Morocco, New Zealand, Nigeria, Poland, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, the United States, Yemen, and Yugoslavia.

Currently, ICSC members regularly participate in exchanges to learn from one another and our website is intended to foster the learning process. We welcome your input and encourage your inclusion in this network of organizations, whose primary goal is to create the space wherein ordinary citizens can engage in public work.
